The article reports on the results of the 2010 Investor Brandscape self-reported survey of affluent investors by Cogent Research, which found that financial company Fidelity Investments has fallen to the second position behind Charles Schwab Corporation in the top 10 distributor rankings and behind Vanguard among the top 10 mutual fund companies. It is suggested that a decline in the number of investors using 401(k) plans, unemployment, and an aging population are the reasons for the change.
