Canwest Subsidiaries Enter Bankruptcy Protection

This article reports on the decision of newspaper publishing and digital media businesses of Canwest LP to file for bankruptcy protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act of Canada in 2010. Under the deal, all of the company's newspaper and digital media publishing assets will be acquired by senior secured lenders. Moody's Investors Service downgraded a probability-of-default rating for the company in response to the filing.
