The Iowa class battleship USS Missouri, which is best known for hosting the Japanese surrender in 1945, has undergone repairs and preservation amounting to 18 million U.S. dollars. A total of 9 million U.S. dollars have been allocated by the U.S. Congress to the Civil War Battlefield Preservation Program in 2010.
