ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the environmental impact of building wind farms in Wyoming. It states that building hundreds of 400-foot-tall wind turbines around the state could have significant impact on various habitat worth protecting. It also argues that the rotor blades on older turbines have killed thousands of birds per year, including hundreds of eagles and other raptors. Biologist Sophie Osborn of the Wyoming Outdoor Council says that the combination of human activity and the introduction of tall structures in the sagebrush sea will drive the birds away.
