Lasing conditions of a free electron laser with helical wiggler

In this investigation the problem of the lasing of a free electron laser with magnetostatic helical wiggler is studied. In the linear approximation, the threshold conditions of the lasing for Raman and Compton regimes under excitation of the forward and backward electromagnetic waves are achieved. In the various physical situations, the variation in the minimum length of the resonator with energy and density of electron beam and with the reflection coefficients of resonator’s mirrors is investigated.
