ABSTRACT
Most of the Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) magnetic diagnostics (MDs) are proposed to be installed inside of the vacuum vessel which is baked out up to 250 °C, and whose base pressure will be ∼5×10[sup -9] Torr. Therefore, MDs must be compatible with the KSTAR vacuum vessel conditions. Sample coils are fabricated in order to prepare the preliminary data for the engineering design of the KSTAR MDs, and they are calibrated under the known magnetic field. A magnetic diagnostics test chamber (MDTC) is fabricated to test sample coils under similar conditions with the KSTAR vacuum vessel. Several experiments are carried out in the MDTC for investigating the reliability of the flux measurement with sample coils: the temperature effect on the measurement, the time delay of the measurement due to the conducting wall of the MDTC, and the frequency response of sample coil for detecting high frequency fluctuation. The results from these performance tests of sample coils are presented. © 2001 American Institute of Physics.
