As stated, Cantaloupe Systems, launched in Berkeley, California in 2002, makes a 12-square-inch box that sits within a vending machine, captures all the transactions and transmits the data over cellular networks and the web to Cantaloupe's servers. In 2010, Arora and Agrawal plan to integrate credit card readers into their hardware.
