ABSTRACT
Objective. To determinate the prognostic value of amino-terminal atrial natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), C reactive protein (CRP), uric acid and left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) upon mortality of elderly with heart failure (HF). Material and methods. Patients aged over 65, diagnosed with HF, were included in study. Biochemical markers, imagistic parameters were determined and the presence or absence of comorbidities was noted. The subjects were evaluated for 6 months and the appearance of death was noted. Results. 48 patients were included. The multivariate Cox regression has determined the odd ratio (OR) and the confi dence interval 95% for studied factors: NT-proBNP - OR 3,7, CI 95% 1,2-11,5, p=0,02; uric acid - OR 1,2, CI 95% 1-1,5, p=0,04; LVEF - OR 0,9, CI 95% 0,8-1, p=0,18; CRP - OR 2,4, CI 95% 0,2-2,4, p=0,44. Conclusion. NT-proBNP and uric acid were negative predictors for elderly with HF.
