Electromechanical coupling coefficient of <001>-oriented Pb(Mg[sub 1/3]Nb[sub 2/3])O[sub 3]-PbTiO[sub 3] cystals: Stress and temperature independence

The electromechanical coupling coefficient (k[sub 33]) of 0.7Pb(Mg[sub 1/3]Nb[sub 2/3])O[sub 3]-0.3PbTiO[sub 3] <001>-oriented crystals have been investigated under unaxial stress (σ) and temperature (T). The results demonstrate that <001>-oriented crystals have a k[sub 33] of ∼0.92, which is nearly independent of σ between 0 and 6x10[sup 7] N/m[sup 2] (∼4% decrease) and relatively independent of temperature between 5 and 40 °C (∼4% increase). © 2001 American Institute of Physics.
