ABSTRACT
The article covers environment-related issues concerning the aviation industry in the U.S. in 2008. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), carbon offsets have become a 54 million U.S. dollar industry for aviation in 2007. It is noted that the airline industry has been slow to the carbon offset market, although for some years, British Airways has been offering them. Also noted is the alternative fuel initiative of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
