ABSTRACT
The article addresses the progress of the initial ports participation of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the Secure Freight Initiative (SFI) program. It states that the cost estimation and the cost benefit analysis of CBP will assist the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in assessing and implementing the requirement to scan 100% of the U.S.-bound containers. Moreover, the operating procedures for the SFI ports are reviewed by the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
