ABSTRACT
The article focuses on high school and college athletics programs, which Myles Brand, president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) comments upon. Brand discusses the costs of sports stadiums and the salaries given to top coaches that averages $950,000 per year. It is noted that federal legislators believe that athletic programs use up too much of a school's budget. The author wonders what will happen to college sports programs when public interest in them passes, as it is expected to do.
