ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the installation of powdered activated carbon (PAC) dosing system at Watergrove Water Treatment Works, a new water treatment plant of United Utilities Co. in Great Britain. The system is added to the water to neutralise geosmin, an organic compound produced by algae and microbes that gives undesirable earthy taste to untreated water. It cites the Spiroflow bulk bag discharger with integral lifting hoist and a flexible screw conveyor that comprises the dosing system.
