ABSTRACT
The article reports on the questions of would-be investors in coal-fired plants equipped with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology over the future of coal in Great Britain. According to Ofgem, 200 billion pounds in investments will be needed in securing energy supplies and meeting environmental targets. Meanwhile, the recent moves of E.ON AG and DONG Energy A/S to delay their plans to build coal-fired power stations with CCS suggest that the future of coal is obscure.
