ABSTRACT
This article discusses alternate reality games (ARGs) and their use as teaching and learning tools. The article describes an ARG created by high school students in Maryland that was used during the Carroll County Public Library's 2009 Summer Reading program. An ARG is described as "an interactive narrative that uses the real world as a platform." ARGs use multiple media to tell a story that can also be affected by the ideas or actions of players.
