ABSTRACT
This article presents information about open source software that is available with no licensing fees to schools. The author believes that Wikipedia has demonstrated that volunteer contributors can benefit everyone, thus contributing to the increase in open source software. Some of the most popular such sites include GIMP, a graphical image-editing program, Blender, a 3-D design and imaging program, and OpenOffice.org, an office suite with word processing and spreadsheets.
