The article reports the leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have accepted an amendment to legislation from Representative Melissa Bean that would give the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency sufficient latitude to override consumer-protection laws. President Barack Obama's administration had proposed giving authority for writing consumer-protection rules to a new agency.
