ABSTRACT
The article presents a meta-analysis of the outcomes in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the effectiveness of vitamin D, calcium, or a combination of both on health. According to a 2007 meta-analysis of 18 RCTs showed that vitamin D supplementation, risk for death is reduced. It is stated that Vitamin D insufficiency is prevalent in North America where clinicians recommend vitamin D-containing supplements.
