The author reports that debt settlement companies Financial Freedom of America Inc. and Debt Settlement USA Inc. will pay damages to settle claims by the Vermont Attorney General's Office. The companies were accused of violating the Vermont Consumer Fraud Act by not following right-to-cancel agreements and not having prior proof of online advertising.
