ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the developments in the chemical industry in East Germany since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Over the years, chemical companies on both sides of the border had stayed in contact. Chancellor Helmut Kohl pledged to save the chemical triangle seeking reelection in 1990. A number of German and North American companies eventually bought East German assets despite reservations. The European Union (EU) initiative Chemlog is being spearheaded by the economics ministry today.
