ABSTRACT
The article reports on an increase in investor interest in bear market funds and long-short mutual funds which has been seen at J. P. Morgan Chase & Co., Pacific Investment Management Co. and several other smaller financial firms in 2009. Investors have shown increased interest in the funds because they have been designed to protect against falling stock prices, and as a result the firms have seen investments into the funds reach a record $10 billion in 2009 through October.
