ABSTRACT
The article discusses over-attentive parenting, sometimes referred to as helicopter parenting, and the resulting backlash against it. According to the author the 2008 economic crisis forced many parents to scale back extracurricular activities and simplify their relationships with their children. The author notes that some parents have a tendency to infantilize children believing that it is keeping them safe when it is simply being overprotective when compared to the actual risk to a child.
