The article reports on the impact of depleted prices of metals in the U.S. mining industry. As the prices of copper, molybdenum and platinum plummeted in 2008, mining jobs and production were reduced. In 2009, the industry is recovering with Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc. plans to resume operations and Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp. will increase silver and gold production.
