ABSTRACT
The article discusses a study conducted to test whether the preoperative smoking cessation interventions affect postoperative complications (POC) and smoking cessation in smokers having elective surgery. The meta analysis had shown that preoperative smoking cessation interventions reduced POCs and increased smoking cessation in smokers. According to the reviewers, intensive interventions not only led to POCs reduction but also resulted in sustained quit rates.
