ABSTRACT
The article reports on smaller banks which have begun lending money for mergers and buyouts of small and middle-market companies. Amalgamated Bank is cited as one example of many such banks entering a market which had long been dominated by giant firms like Bank of America Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co. The bankruptcy of CIT Group Inc. is said to have had a significant impact on this market.
