ABSTRACT
The article reports on the audit conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to the Bureau of the Public Debt's (BPD) annual schedules of Federal Debt. It notes that the fiscal year 2008 increased in total of 1,018 billion dollars federal debt and was showed the largest increase. Moreover, as of September 30, 2009, the gross debt had reached to a total of 7,552 billion dollars and gross intragovernmental holdings of 4,346 billion dollars.
