Cooling-Tower Motors Save Energy, Reduce Maintenance for University: Eliminate fan-drive right-angle gearbox and jackshaft

November 2009
Heating/Piping/Air Conditioning Engineering;Nov2009, Vol. 81 Issue 11, p22
The article reports the problem of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia on the motors of their two cooling towers. It notes that the two cooling towers have been of service for 20 years. It says that the Tower Engineering Inc. (TEI) suggests to use RPM AC Cooling Tower Direct Drive Motor of Baldor. Rob Manchester, mechanical engineer of the university, says that according to their study the RPM AC can reduce energy consumption and has low maintenance and says that they are excited to have it.
