Harmonic Distortion: Reality vs. Perception: In most cases, harmonics from VFDs is a perceived, not real, problem

Heating/Piping/Air Conditioning Engineering;Nov2009, Vol. 81 Issue 11, p16
The article focuses on the proper management of electricity flow. It cites that variable-frequency-drive (VFD) has only minor problems, if ever there is, it is due to poor installation of wires. It notes that there are two standards, the ANSI/IEEE Standard 519 and the ANSI/IEEE Standard 519-1992 which aim is to have a proper control in electrical power system. It says that there was once a misuse of 519-1992 which causes the overuse of multipulse drives in the heating & ventilation industry.
