ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of data center services provider Equinix to acquire its competitor Switch & Data Facilities Company. The acquisition will expand Equinix's coverage to 16 more markets across North America including Atlanta, Georgia, Miami, Florida and Denver, Colorado. According to the article, the availability of more sites will enable algorithmic traders to attain sub-couple millisecond response to a buy or sell order by allowing them to set up servers close to exchanges.
