Development of a methadone order form for inpatients

The article discusses the use of methadone as an option for analgesic therapy in the U.S. It is mentioned that the said drug has potential benefits over other common oral opioids such as low cost, no known metabolites and minimal cross-tolerance with other opioids. Furthermore, methadone is used to treat pain, drug detoxification and maintenance treatment of opioid abuse.
