ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the findings of five independent research on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in India in 2009, which predicted that the per capita emissions of the country will decline between 2.77 tonnes and five tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) in 2030-2031. It cites the primary drivers of such emission estimates. Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh explained that the studies are aimed at promoting debate for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009.
