ABSTRACT
The article reports on the study conducted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the efforts of host governments and donors including the U.S. that aims to cut to half the hunger in sub-Saharan Africa by 2015. It notes that the reasons why the efforts have been insufficient include host government spending on agriculture is low, donor aid for agriculture is declining and the efforts were constrained in funding. It adds that the U.S. has doubled its budget for agriculture for 2010.
