ABSTRACT
The article reports on the study conducted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the challenges faced by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in consolidating its existing disparate systems. It notes that the DHS has taken actions to implement its financial management systems. It adds that the DHS had difficulty integrating with Transformation and Systems Consolidation (TASC) because of the lack of independence of the contractors hired to perform TASC's functions.
