ABSTRACT
The article reports on the study conducted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the need to improve federal performance measures for information security through joint efforts by experts and leading organizations. It notes that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) does not tailor its reporting, correlate the data or discuss the weaknesses in information security controls. It adds Congress will not assess federal agencies' information security programs until OMB do its part.
