ABSTRACT
The article reports on the study conducted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the limitation of the private sector's role in delivering and financing transit projects in the U.S. The private sector role in the U.S. focuses more on how the project is delivered rather than how it is financed, while its role in international projects focuses both project delivery and financing. It notes that the Department of Transportation serves as a resource for transit projects sponsors.
