ABSTRACT
The article reports on the study conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the need for strategic planning to help government officials make decisions on adapting to climate change. It states that federal actions to address challenges to adaptation efforts fell into various areas such as education to increase awareness of government officials about the impacts of climate change. GAO recommends a national adaptation plan that sets priorities for federal and local agencies.
