ABSTRACT
The article discusses the U.S. Federal Reserve's program for purchasing mortgage-backed securities. Chairman Ben Bernanke has indicated he would like to begin scaling back the program in March, 2010. However, some including economist Paul Krugman believe continued weakness in the U.S. housing market could make it advisable to continue the purchases beyond that date.
