ABSTRACT
The article discusses changes in Canadian environmental laws. The Ontario Ministry of the Environment has proposed new air standards, under Ontario Air Pollution Regulation 419/05. An upper-risk threshold will be added to Schedule 6 for contaminants including acrolein, benzene, manganese and manganese compounds. In Canada, potential penalties and enforcement powers have been increased and there is a major cutback in federal environmental assessment.
