The article features Rick Barber, associate director of C-Stores, Warehouse, Purchasing and Concessions at San Diego State University in California. Barber received his education from Riverside Community College at Riverside. His passion for flying glider planes was interrupted for 20 years as life got in the way until he joined a glider club in 1988. Barber explains that gliders do not have engines and rely on being towed by another plane or car to reach lift. His farthest flight in a glider plane is 437 miles and has flown over 4,100 miles in 2009.
