ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decline of sales of Family Dollar Stores Inc. in Matthews, North Carolina in the fourth quarter ending August 29, 2009. This is attributed to the disruption caused by store resets. It notes that its net sales increased 2.6% to 1.81 billion dollars in the quarter. It points out that its comparable-store sales rose over 6% in the second and third quarters. It has also maintained its earnings guidance of 39 cents to 43 cents per diluted share in the fourth quarter.
