The City HR Association has opened the City HR Academy, which aims to deliver more flexible and local Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) training. Microsoft has launched the campaign "Britain Works," which would enable it to help half a million people in Great Britain to get a job by developing their information technology skills. Nine hundred jobs will be cut by beverage manufacturer Diageo in its Johnnie Walker plant and a grain distillery in Scotland.
