ABSTRACT
The article reports on the cautious optimism of manufacturing technology suppliers over news that Ford has its first sales gain in two years and the U.S. manufacturing activity slowed down in July 2009. Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) president Doug Woods mentioned that the lowest rate of contraction in the sector is not a great news. The Cash-For-Clunkers program is noted as the key reason behind the turnaround of Ford. Kim Beck, board member of AMT, noted that tax relief for small business is needed.
