ABSTRACT
The article discusses the increase in the levels of employee engagement at Marks and Spencer amidst workforce reduction and store shutdowns in 2009. A survey indicated higher positive employee attitude levels for their jobs and for the management, according to human resource director Tanith Dodge. Job losses have already reached a total of 1,200, while 27 stores have been closed. The company was pleased over the result of its staff survey, which attained a response rate of 92 percent.
