ABSTRACT
This article provides information on the following research activities conducted at the University of Michigan Wayne State University Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations between July 1, 1964 and June 30, 1965. It mentions the appointment of Dr. Louis A. Ferman as director of the Institute's Research Division. Ferman has been functioning as a research associate for five years with the Institute and has acted informally as research advisor for the co-directors. A research is conducted on the relationship between technological innovation and the unemployment rate in the U.S. transportation industries including the airlines, maritime, railroad and trucking.
