The article focuses on William E. Heinecke, chief executive officer (CEO) of Minor International PLC in Thailand. Heinecke has bought stakes in different companies located in different parts of the globe despite the global economic slowdown and its impact on his business empire. One-third of his 1084 food outlets and 15 of its 29 hotels are outside Thailand. Heinecke abandoned his U.S. citizenship 18 years ago and Thailand has been his headquarters for more than four decades.
