The Emerging Adult and the Financial Planner: Seven Years Later

The article provides guidelines on how financial advisers can assist their clients who are concerned by the continued financial dependence of their adult children in the U.S. It is stated that financial planners need to be a proactive participant in working with both the parents and the young adults. It is mentioned that parents should identify some factors that typify the development stage of emerging adulthood which include identity exploration, instability, and feeling in-between. Also discussed are the five areas that financial planners may wish to explore with their clients including funding education, fund vocational testing, and offer financial assistance.
