ABSTRACT
The article presents a study which provides evidence on the contributing role of the cellular organelle centrosome in the differentiation of one member of the two genetically identical sister cells after a cell division. It examines the function of the centrosome in cilium formation. It explores the structure and asymmetric duplication of the said organelle, and establishes its possible correlation with the differentiation. It also discusses how the study proves the link by studying the asymmetric divisions of the radial glial cells. It also cites the possibilities offered by the researchers on how older mother centriole specify stem-cell fate after cell division. Furthermore, it notes the implication of the findings' similarity to the studies conducted on germline stem cells.
