ABSTRACT
The article reports that 13 qualified companies and consortia have been named by the British Office of Gas & Electricity Markets (Ofgem) to bid to become offshore transmission operators (Oftos). These companies will be able to bid to own and operate transmission links to a number of offshore windfarms totalling more than two gigawatts. The bidding process will run until April 2010. Some of the bidders selected are Balfour Beatty Capital, Equitix, and ESB International.
