The article presents information about several projects currently in progress at the University of Wisconsin, Center for the Study of Productivity Motivation, Madison. The Use of Measurements in Increasing Hospital Productivity is a study of various measurement devices used in nonprofit hospitals and how they might be useful in installation and operation of incentive programs. A handbook describing measurements, how they can be made, and possible uses in conjunction with improved productivity management is in preparation. In the past decade a growing number of countries have either given consideration to, or passed laws making mandatory, the use of varying forms of employee profit sharing in business. A survey-type study is being made of recent attempts to legislate profit sharing in various noncommunist countries of the world in an attempt to determine the reasons for legalizing profit sharing, the kind of profit sharing called for, the unique aspects of the laws, and determination of possible patterns which might be evolving.
