The article comments on an article about the sex differential in earnings. The effect of a variable in an interaction model can only be evaluated as the partial derivative of the dependent variable with respect to that independent variable. The author's inappropriate assessment of interaction models is compounded by extreme collinearity among several of the independent variables in both sets of analyses. A primary problem is that the regression models are misspecified as they include only education, sex and gender composition as determinants of earnings.

In this paper the authors estimate intergenerational earnings mobility models using quantile regressions.
